A lot of the trend in modern times is to go back to older days. Retro has never been as modern as it is right now. Even in the competitive world of high fashion there is always a tendency to resuscitate old trends and integrating them with modern takes on old fashion. But high couture isn’t the only world when it’s fashionable to go back in fashion; normal clothing stores are full of “remember the 60’s 70’s or 80’s” trends, home décor often sees some comebacks of old objects with a slightly modern twist (remember the lava lamps?) and even cars of old are making a comeback to modern day dealerships.
The Volkswagen Beatle and the Mini made a huge comeback a couple of years ago, but when it comes to cars there also a strange trend when these cars came out. Classic car hire companies saw an increase in rentals of old school Minis and Beatles, with people clearly sending out the message that, in some cases, old is best.
There is definitely a lot of pleasure involved in driving an older car, a car from times that putting your foot down the accelerator actually caused a physical response in the engine instead of sending a bunch of information to an onboard computer.
